Surgery of the Ovaries and Tubes
Intraoperative photos

This lady had an ectopic pregnancy in the left tube. See the dilated area in the tube.

The tube is being opened to reveal the pregnancy

The products of conception are removed completely from the tube.

The tube was closed back and reconstructed. If a pregnancy ectopic is suspected early, laparoscopic surgery may help to preserve the tube involved.

Left ovarian tumour (the normal sized right ovary is seen on the right). The tumour was removed completely by laparoscopy together with the right ovary as the patient was postmenopausal. She went home the day after surgery. The final histology revealed no cancer.

This young lady has an ovarian tumour. See the enlarged left ovary.

The left ovary is opened and the tumour is dissected without compromising the blood supply of the ovary.

The tumour is nearly free and will be extracted with no spillage from the pelvis and for histological analysis.

The ovary is sutured and reconstructed. You may suture using key-hole surgery and with the advantage of visual magnification.

This photo shows the final result. This young patient was able to keep her 2 ovaries. She was discharged home 12 hours later.
