- Pelvic inflammatory disease: It may be sexually transmitted
- Pelvic congestion syndrome: Varicose veins in your pelvis
- Residual ovarian syndrome: When a small piece of an ovary is left after surgery, occasionally it may develop into small cysts that can be trapped in your pelvic wall causing pain.
- Fibroids: Degeneration (transformation into a different tissue) of fibroids may casue pain. Big sized fibroids may cause pressure and pain as well. More info.
- Other reasons (non gynaecological) for pain are: Interstitial cystitis, Irritable Bowel syndrome and chronic stress.
As part of the investigations to find a reason for your chronic pain are: Internal examinations, vaginal swabs, pelvic scans and laparoscopy. The treatment should be directed at the suspected cause of pain.
